Do Something
When daily verse indoctrinates
I should do something today
Children rise to faith and borders
To the cloth they pledge
Some not knowing nor caring
Some hurt by words spoken
When vision stops to accommodate
I should do something today
Young souls conceded to the fold
While seeking truth in stories told
Cut to size for presentation
We discipline the bold
Freedom lost in brilliant spangled grays
Our indifference dishonors the brave
We shine on youth with narrow sight
Mock them when drawn toward different light
I should do something today
It’s what you always say
Oh the genius we forsake
I should do something today
We turn the odd away
Crushing flair to integrate
Belief confines discovery
Curb society as it’s pleased
